Hey there, my name is Anastasia, but I typically go by Ana. I am the small business owner behind Fireweed Minerals. 

Fireweed Minerals was created out of a love for natural gemstones and a frustration with the lack of transparency and ethics that are still common in parts of the gemstone industry. We buy stones as gifts, for our collections, a luxury that shouldn't come at others expense. Instead, Fireweed Minerals runs on a little ecosystem of Canadian collectors. I field-collect some of my own material, but I also source a ton of material from fellow prospectors, beachcombers, and rockhounds who find things I never would on my own. I love building relationships and friendships with people driven by curiosity and who believe treasures still lie in our backyards, waiting to be found. When you buy from me, you support more than just my small business. That money ripples outward to the collectors who supply me, and to the people who spend their weekends turning over rocks simply because they love discovering what is underneath.

I bring to this shop about 20 years of experience in rockhounding, lapidary arts, and prospecting, along with a geology education and a healthy dose of sarcasm. I cut everything from semi-precious to precious gemstones into cabochons, and I am learning to facet. Every stone in this shop is cut by my hands, unless otherwise noted. Somewhere along the way, I also developed an unintentional fascination with corundum and sapphire. 

Canada has an incredible variety of gemstones and lapidary material, and I love being able to share some of that beauty through my work! Thank you for supporting my small business so I can continue to do what I love.
