Bi-colour Sapphire Specimen, 6.25 x 6.10 x 5.0 mm, from British Columbia, Canada
This raw corundum specimen features a striking icy blue parti sapphire crystal with distinct color zoning, showcasing shades of icy blue with very faint soft pink undertones and deep dark blue patches. Collected from a high-alpine occurrence in the Revelstoke region of British Columbia by the late prospector Herb Hyder, this unique piece highlights exceptional Canadian gem geochemistry.
The rough crystal displays a well-defined hexagonal habit and flashy flat faces. Under ultraviolet light, it glows a vivid soft pink, reflecting its chromium-bearing composition. These sapphire crystals have been lightly tumbled to remove loose material and could be set raw into jewelry with a careful hand.
