This natural corundum-sapphire originates from the Hopedale region of Newfoundland and Labrador, sourced from lapidary rough ethically hand-mined by local prospector Edmund Saunders. Hand-cut and polished in my Saskatoon lapidary studio, this large freeform oval cabochon displays deep purple-plum and magenta tones. Under ultraviolet light, the stone reveals a vivid fluorescence highlighting its chromium-rich, ruby leaning geochemistry.
