This raw corundum micro specimen features pink coloured sapphire crystals. The host rock is brown-beige, with radiating amphibole crystals and light green chrysotile-antigorite, which add contrast with their unique lusters. Under ultraviolet light, it glows a vivid soft pink, reflecting its chromium-bearing composition.
Collected from a high-alpine occurrence in the Revelstoke region of British Columbia by the late prospector Herb Hyder, this unique piece highlights exceptional Canadian gem geochemistry.
