This small, beautiful spessartine garnet specimen was self-collected from the Revelstoke region of British Columbia.
This material comes from an high alpine occurrence originally discovered by the late Canadian prospector Herb Hyder, who was a great friend and inspiration to me. The claim is now owned by Rock Rush, and the material was gathered with permission.
This specimen features a lustrous cognac orange garnet crystal exposed in a quartz-rich matrix, with additional small garnet crystals scattered through the surrounding matrix. The combination of vivid orange garnet, contrasting dark minerals and pale quartz makes for an attractive natural mineral specimen.
