This beautiful spessartine garnet specimen was self-collected from the Revelstoke region of British Columbia. This material comes from a high alpine occurrence originally discovered by the late Canadian prospector Herb Hyder, who was a great friend of mine. The claim is now owned by Rock Rush, and the material was gathered with permission.

This specimen features several lustrous cognac orange garnet crystals exposed on a quartz matrix. The combination of vivid orange garnet on the contrasting light matrix makes for an attractive natural mineral specimen. There are many garnet faces on this specimen, causing it to sparkle dramatically in the light.

A few of the large garnet crystals in this specimen are damaged; therefore, this specimen has been discounted.
