This beautiful pyrope-almandine garnet specimen was self-collected from the Revelstoke region of British Columbia. This material comes from a high alpine occurrence originally discovered by the late Canadian prospector Herb Hyder, who was a great friend of mine. The claim is now owned by Rock Rush, and the material was gathered with permission.
The piece features a striking raspberry- to purple-colored garnet porphyroblast set against a dark biotite matrix, creating a beautiful natural contrast. It has been lightly hand-polished in my Saskatoon Lapidary studio to enhance its vivid color and improve the in-hand feel.
